It’s recommended that you’ve ran at least one road marathon in order to be adequately prepared for the race. The elevation gain is significant although most of it is in the first half of the course. There are sections where there can be long stretches of mud and puddles.
If you decide to drop out of the race around Polovrak peak you can descent to Lozen village where you can take bus #5 back to Sofia. Another option is Pasarel village where there is a bus stop right next to the aid station.
A relatively prepared runner will finish the course in about 6 hours. The cut-off time is 8 hours.
